Center of Excellence

For the third year in a row RMHC at P/SL has been designated a Center of Excellence for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) by the Clinical Sciences Institute of United’s OptumHealth network for 2011.  

According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment the RMHC at P/SL NICU has significantly better outcomes for central line infections and ventilator acquired pneumonia in neonates.

Statewide comparisons for 2010 indicate that:CVC Sepsis rate at .88% is 3 X better than national average of 2.8%Ventilator Assisted Pneumonia (VAP) rate at 1% is approximately 1 1⁄2 X better than national average of 1.4%

RMHC at P/SL has been a member of the Vermont Oxford Network (VON), a non-profit voluntary collaboration of health care professionals dedicated to improving the quality and safety of medical care for newborn infants, since 1990.

RMHC at P/SL uses the database for quality management, process improvement, internal audit and peer review.
