Accreditation with Distinction from the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS)
The P/SL program received its Accreditation with Distinction from the UHMS for 2012 - 2016. UHMS accreditation is recognized by The Joint Commission.
At Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center we are fortunate to offer both inpatients and outpatients hyperbaric medicine. Treating conditions like: chronic wounds/atherosclerotic wounds, carbon monoxide poisoning, radiation injuries, necrotizing soft tissue infections, diving accidents, iatrogenic air emboli, and traumatic ischemia injuries, like frostbite.
Among many accolades passed on from the Accreditation, was the sentiment that “our staff puts patient care first"
Since 2001, the UHMS has had a clinical hyperbaric medicine facility accreditation program. Clinical hyperbaric facilities can demonstrate their commitment to patient care and facility safety by voluntarily participating in this program. When invited to perform an accreditation survey, the UHMS will send a team of experts to the facility to examine staffing and training, equipment installation, operation, and maintenance, facility and patient safety, and standards of care.
