Tom Brown, MD

Dr. Tom Brown is the Director of the Bariatric Surgery Program at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center. Dr. Brown is a board-certified, general and bariatric surgeon who has more than 20 years of clinical and surgical experience. Dr. Brown is one of the leading laparoscopic surgeons in the Denver area, demonstrating skill and expertise in executing numerous laparoscopic surgical procedures, including the laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic gastric banding (Lap-Band) and laparoscopic vertical sleeve gastrectomy. He has successfully performed more than 1,500 bariatric procedures and established the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery-recognized Center of ExcellenceBariatric Surgery Program at P/SL. Matthew Metz, MD

Dr. Matthew Metz is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgeon. He was recruited from the Cleveland Clinic, where he trained under the expert guidance of the world-renown Dr. Philip Schauer. While in Cleveland, Dr. Metz performed more than 300 complex procedures, including revisional bariatric surgery, advanced endoscopy, and numerous foregut operations. He has published several papers in medical literature and is currently awaiting release of a review textbook on Bariatric Surgery, of which he is a co-author. He is an active member in several surgical societies and has made presentations at national and international meetings on advanced laparoscopic and endoscopic techniques.

Liz Rosenzweig, MSW, LCSW

Liz is a clinical social worker who comes to Presbyterian/ St. Luke's from Massachusetts, where she worked in the field of outpatient mental health. Liz received her MSW from the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work and has supported a variety of patient populations on problems including addiction, trauma, body image and poor self-concept.  Liz is responsible for psychological screening of patients considering weight-loss surgery. She also provides post-operative support to ensure patients make effective lifestyle changes and counsels patients and their loved ones with the emotional aspects of  weight-loss surgery. Liz works directly with our patients and also holds family meetings and participates in monthly support groups. Meet Liz on our YouTube Channel.

Jody Halouska, RD

Jody, a Registered Dietitian, is our Bariatric Surgery Coordinator. She counsels and educates patients to help them modify their diet following bariatric surgery. Jody received her Bachelor’s degrees in Nutritional Science and Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and completed a year-long dietetic internship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Jody has held numerous positions in nutritional counseling and education for adults and youth and is a certified personal trainer. She works pre- and post-operatively with our patients, in individual and group settings, to assist  them with achieving and maintaining their weight-loss goals.
