Orientation

• Review policies and procedures

• Gain familiarity with the facility

• Attain proficiency with hospital computer systems and automation technology

• Procure medications

• Prepare IV admixtures

• Develop an understanding of technical duties associated with distribution of medication

Internal Medicine

• Round daily with internal medicine doctors

• Conduct patient medication review

• Identify and resolve drug related problems

• Educate patients regarding their medications

• Provide in-services as needed

• Review lecture topics with preceptor

Pediatrics

• Round daily with Pediatric Intensive Care team

• Attend discharge planning rounds on pediatric ward

• Provide in-services as needed

• Review lecture topics with preceptor

• Facilitate discharge medication process for difficult to find items

• Identify and resolve drug related problems

• Respond to Pediatric Code Blue events

Oncology/BMT

• Round daily with Bone Marrow Transplant team

• Optimize antimicrobial use

• Work with the nutrition support team to optimize therapy

• Manage anti-rejection medications

• Provide discharge counseling

• Gain efficiency with oncology order management

• Identify and resolve drug related problems

Critical Care

• Round daily with ICU team

• Round with kidney transplant team on ICU patients

• Respond to Code Blue events

• Identify and resolve drug related problems

• Review lecture topics with preceptor

• Provide in-services as needed

• Work with nutrition support team to optimize therapy

• Gain efficiency with function of the operating room satellite

Administration

• Conduct an administrative project

• Contribute to departmental leadership

• Work in the management of human resources

• Understand the pharmacy procurement process

• Conduct meetings

• Provide in-services as needed
