Pharmacy Residency Program at P/SL
Presbyterian/St. Luke’s and The Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children at P/SL offers two PGY1 positions. Our residency program is designed to train selected, highly motivated, and highly qualified pharmacists in hospital pharmacy practice. This residency focuses on development of the knowledge, attitude, and skills needed to provide quality, compassionate and cost-effective pharmaceutical care. The goal of the program is to assist the resident in developing specific skills and competencies that are needed to assume leadership roles in the profession. Upon completion of the PGY1 program, residents are equipped to succeed in a variety of positions, including clinical pharmacy specialist, clinical faculty, or continuation of postgraduate training in a PGY2 program or fellowship.
Pharmacy Residency Program Highlights
• Six required rotations, one longitudinal rotation, numerous elective choices
• Wide variety of clinical learning experiences
• Staffing every other weekend (two 8-hour shifts)
• Longitudinal residency project
• Three journal club presentations
• Three seminar presentations to the pharmacy department
• Two multidisciplinary committee reports
• In-service presentations to hospital staff
• Attend ASHP mid-year
• Attend and present at Western States Regional Residency Conference in Monterey, California
